ABOUT US  / TRAVEL WITHIN INDIA >>

All transfers are individually arranged and at no time will you be grouped together with other customers.

Road
Most transfers within India are by road (we have a range of vehicles). Travel by road in India can be slow but is enjoyable as there is much to see along the way. You may find yourself in the midst of a local festival or cattle market, overtaking bullock carts or elephants, passing pilgrims making their way to a place of worship etc, etc. As you are not travelling with other people you can ask your driver to stop as often as you like in order to take photographs of the interesting sights along the way.

Rail
Many people like to travel by train. India has the largest rail network in the world and despite the distances their trains keep surprisingly good time. If you want to include train travel advise us and we will see where this can be included in your tour. There are different train types operating throughout India. Many are long distance sleepers and we can book you a berth so that you travel through the night. It is also possible to travel on these trains during the day (as the beds convert to seats). More comfortable for travel during the day is a ‘chair car’ train as these are more like our commuter trains and we can book actual seats on these. The various trains have different classes – we will book the best available which will be an air-conditioned carriage.

Air
For the longer distances it may be necessary to book internal flights. We have access to a wide number of internal airlines (including some of the new budget airlines that are now operating throughout India). The best fares on Internal flight tickets have restrictions (eg once booked can not be changed or cancelled) and must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Water
With the large network of waterways in Kerala it is also possible to do some journeys by boat. Houseboats are large and slow so generally the distances they cover are not great and time on a houseboat should be considered a sightseeing and accommodation experience rather than a means of getting from A to B. However it is possible, for example, to take a smaller faster boat from the backwater area to Cochin.
